HGA is seeking a talented Civil Project Engineer to join our team. In this role, you’ll contribute to a wide range of impactful projects across the country, spanning commercial, government, healthcare, and higher‑education sectors.

As a Civil Project Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in designing and coordinating civil engineering solutions that support high‑performance, integrated design. You’ll balance independent task management with active collaboration across multidisciplinary Architecture/Engineering (A/E) teams—helping deliver innovative, timely, and client‑focused results.

This is an excellent opportunity to shape complex, diverse engineering projects while advancing your career within a forward‑thinking, award‑winning practice.

If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact through purposeful design, we’d love to hear from you.

In this role you will:

  • Work with the civil team to complete site engineering tasks and collaborate to ensure the successful completion of the design of site layout and grading plans, utility design, erosion control plans, and stormwater management plans.
  • Prepare detailed design and documentation of project solutions that align with client needs, project schedules, and budget requirements and are consistent with HGA’s standard practices.
  • Complete a variety of civil engineering design tasks, including roadway and parking layout, pavement design, site grading, stormwater management design and reporting, and site utility and building service design.
  • Perform engineering calculations as required for civil design such as obtaining earthwork volumes, stormwater design, utility pipe sizing and pavement design.
  • Communicate with regulatory authorities and prepare required documentation to obtain site plan approvals and permits.
  • Edit and refine site work specification sections to meet project requirements.
  • Provide construction phase support, including site visits, responding to bidders, reviewing submittals, addressing change orders, and preparing punch lists.

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an EAC-ABET accredited program (licensed professional engineer strongly preferred).
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in the design of site improvements for commercial, government, healthcare, or higher education project types.
  • Proven ability to handle the design of site improvements for complex and high-profile projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, WinSLAMM/MIDS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, a solid understanding of civil engineering principles, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with clients, regulatory authorities, and the project team.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
