HGA has an exciting opportunity for a talented Civil Project Engineer to join our Milwaukee, Wisconsin team. You’ll work on a variety of impactful projects across the country, including those in the commercial, government, healthcare, and higher education sectors.

 

As a Civil Project Engineer at HGA, you will play a key role in designing and coordinating civil engineering solutions that support high-performance, integrated design. You’ll work both independently and as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary Architecture/Engineering (A/E) team—managing your own tasks while helping to deliver innovative, timely, and client-focused solutions.

In this role you will:

  1. work with the civil team to complete site engineering tasks and collaborate to ensure the successful completion of the design of site layout and grading plans, utility design, erosion control plans, and stormwater management plans;
  2. prepare detailed design and documentation of project solutions that align with client needs, project schedules, and budget requirements and are consistent with HGA’s standard practices;
  3. complete a variety of civil engineering design tasks, including roadway and parking layout, pavement design, site grading, stormwater management design and reporting, and site utility and building service design;
  4. perform engineering calculations as required for civil design such as obtaining earthwork volumes, stormwater design, utility pipe sizing and pavement design;
  5. communicate with regulatory authorities and prepare required documentation to obtain site plan approvals and permits;
  6. edit and refine site work specification sections to meet project requirements; and
  7. provide construction phase support, including site visits, responding to bidders, reviewing submittals, addressing change orders, and preparing punch lists.

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an EAC-ABET accredited program (licensed professional engineer strongly preferred)
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in the design of site improvements for commercial, government, healthcare, or higher education project types
  • Proven ability to handle the design of site improvements for complex and high-profile projects
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, WinSLAMM/MIDS, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, a solid understanding of civil engineering principles, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with clients, regulatory authorities, and the project team
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines

Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA’s robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Salary Range: $84,000 - $124,100.
