Overview:

HGA's Digital Practice Group ("DPG") is seeking an experienced senior leader for the role of Director of Digital Practice to lead, shape, and execute the firm’s technology vision for our architecture, interior design, and engineering practices.

In this role you will:

  • ensure that digital tools, workflows, and emerging technologies enhance design excellence, project delivery and business operations; be critical in driving change necessary for our firm’s practitioners to adapt to technology disruption and innovation in our industry, advancing opportunities with data, automation and artificial intelligence;
  • build, collaborate and leverage strong partnerships with firm-wide leadership to understand market trends, changing client expectations, and delivery challenges; and
  • capitalize on the strengths of HGA’s digital design capabilities and maintain a competitive edge to ensure project teams have the tools and resources required to be highly productive, effective, and produce a high level of quality design.

 As a member of the CIO’s leadership team, this role contributes to HGA’s broader technology strategy and participates in challenging conventional thinking and bringing innovative ideas that enable HGA to achieve its long-term ambition. 

 

This role is responsible for oversight of the Digital Design Operations, BIM Strategic Projects, Visualization, and Fabrication teams within DPG.

 

Additional Essential Duties and Responsibilities…

  1. collaborate with executive, practice group and department leadership, along with subject matter experts to design and develop a Digital Practice strategy aligned with the firm’s design and business objectives;
  2. identify, evaluate and implement new technologies that enhance design thinking and project execution. Build partnerships with strategic and emerging vendors to maintain a strong knowledge of industry technology trends and opportunities;
  3. continuously improve and support highly effective digital workflows leveraging automation, connected systems, data and AI to drive a high level of productivity and quality in our work products;
  4. partner with Technology leadership and colleagues to design and implement a BIM infrastructure strategy that enables collaboration, user experience and performance and that optimizes HGA’s operating expenses;
  5. partner with the CIO, the Director of Data and Software Engineering and other subject matter experts to advance the firm’s data and AI strategy, capitalizing on HGA’s valuable BIM data;
  6. oversee the development of a learning and knowledge sharing strategy that enables our practitioners to work effectively and efficiently;
  7. develop and manage a community of BIM resources to deliver BIM-related services that ensure model accuracy, completeness, and performance to client’s expectations;
  8. as software product owners, instill a product management mindset of continuous improvement, evaluation of fit, and decommissioning; and
  9. collaborate with HGA’s standards council to evaluate and define architecture and engineering standards. Oversee the implementation of those standards into HGA’s BIM environment.

You will need to have:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Digital Practice leadership and management role, responsible for optimizing firm workflows and tools for one or more firms with over 500 employees.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience working in an architecture or engineering design practice, using a variety of tools and including Autodesk Revit.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Studies, Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent. Advanced degree in Architecture, Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with driving innovative change in the AE industry, collaborating with firm leaders and practitioners to adapt technology changes into their ways of working.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AE industry trends and related technology opportunities.
  • General knowledge of information technology management principles or practices such as cloud-based infrastructure, cybersecurity, systems architecture, DevOps and data warehousing.
  • A track record of successful collaboration with business executives on business or technology strategy.

Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA’s robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Salary Range: $161,100 - 204,100
