  • Overview

    HGA is an award winning architectural, engineering and planning firm with a full-time opportunity in our Milwaukee office for a Project Specifier.  This position prepares project manuals (technical specifications bidding requirements, quality assurance, contract conditions and related documentation) and provides coordination of specifications with the drawings, clients, consultants, and other disciplines as required to produce a complete project manual in a manner that is responsive to the client's needs and deadlines consistent with HGA architectural procedures, standards and quality expectations. 

     

    Responsibilities

    1. Works closely with architectural/engineering team leaders, construction managers, consultants or client as necessary in the preparation of the specifications documents.
    2. Prepares and maintains master guide specification using most current CSI format, and writes various standards, regulations and specification means and methods of work; may also write guide master for procedures and materials check lists.
    3. Prepares design development outline specifications as needed; writes and maintains master guide outline.
    4. Conducts research and contributes technical assistance in establishing or evaluating criteria for the quality of materials and workmanship. Stays abreast of product literature, changes and works with HGA library to ensure that most current, pertinent data is cataloged for current and future project use.
    5. May assist project managers in developing contractual provisions and administrative procedures to be employed during construction phase of a project.

     

     

    Qualifications

    • Preferred candidates will be a graduate architect with a minimum of five years of construction processes experience, or possess a technical degree in a related field.
    • Ten years of construction processes experience. 
    • Professional registration and/or CCS certification preferred
    • Experience on large projects acceptable in lieu of CCS.  If a candidate is a licensed professional, CCS may be obtained while working. 
    • Experience with a variety of project types including LEED/Sustainable design is desirable. 
    • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite are essential. 
    • Familiar with editing Avitru MasterSpec specification sections.
