    HGA has an exciting opportunity for a talented, ambitious technology project engineer to join our Minneapolis office.

    1. Ability to plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate technology engineering work.
    2. Makes calculations, using engineering formulas and skills for technology designs such as equipment room sizing, pathway requirements, system storage and server processing requirements, materials assessing site conditions.
      • Oversee production of drawings and perform quality control review of documents.
      • Create written reports that clearly communicate complex engineering concepts and translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
      • Edit specification sections.
      • Produce final punch list.
      • Document existing conditions and perform complex and detailed troubleshooting.
    3. Prepare addendum and change orders. Initiate additional service requests and turn over to Project Manager for submittal to client.
    4. Collaborate directly with clients and end users to strategize and determine technology program requirements for design and specification.
    5. Coordinate project design requirements with the internal and external design team members.
    6. Write scope of work for technology design based on preliminary review and meetings with the client.
    7. Prepare engineering studies and schematic design for new systems and analyze operation of existing systems.
    8. Produce sketches and system schematics for complicated design tasks such as layout of equipment rooms and system connectivity.
    9. Present technology options to end users and project stakeholders, comparing and contrasting various solutions against the program needs.
    10. Resolves a variety of complex problems, i.e. conflicting design requirements, suitability of conventional materials, difficult condition requirements.
    11. Research non-routine code issues and obtain interpretations from code officials.
    12. Use computer programs and modeling tools for complex engineering analysis and presentations.
    13. Participate in marketing efforts and request for proposal responses and develop project fees and work plans.
    14. Contribute to department design standards and protocols.


    • BA or MS degree in Electrical Engineering
    • Professional Engineer Registration preferred
    • BICSI RCDD certification preferred
    • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the design of Low Voltage Systems including Telecommunications Infrastructure, Security Systems – Video Surveillance, Access Control, Intrusion/Duress, Audio/Video Systems, Digital Signage and Paging/Sound Masking Systems for medical, commercial and/or industrial project types
    • Knowledge of current technology applicable to Technology, IEEE, EIA/TIA and BICSI requirements and all applicable codes (city, state, federal) as well as knowledge of National Fire Protection Association / National Electrical Code (NFPA/NEC) Standards are essential
    • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
