    HGA is an award-winning architectural, engineering and planning firm seeking an experienced Senior Sustainability Specialist to join our Sustainable Design group. You will be a key member of the team tasked with developing robust and impactful strategies for incorporating sustainability into HGA processes, from internal operations to design and construction. Your role will include providing technical leadership on projects, developing new business and service lines, representing HGA to existing and potential clients, providing thought leadership, and developing internal sustainable design processes.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Takes a leadership position on deep-green projects.
    2. Works across disciplines to leverage an integrated design process.
    3. Establishes sustainable design goals, metrics, and strategies for specific projects with teams and clients.
    4. Plans and facilitates sustainable design charrettes and community workshops.
    5. Prepares sustainability project reports and narratives.
    6. Guides staff in the preparation of a variety of sustainable design tasks and deliverables.
    7. Develops new services lines, potentially including resiliency planning
    8. Attends and presents at conferences.
    9. Assists in developing internal education resources, including developing and presenting live presentations.

    COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, skills and abilities):

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to collaborate and adapt in a non-hierarchical team setting
    • Strong interpersonal skills in working both with colleagues and clients
    • Willingness to travel to HGA offices
    • Experience in leadership and management
    • Experience in thought leadership, including presenting at conferences
    • Knowledge of:
      • Design and construction processes.
      • Current versions of the LEED rating system, WELL Building Standard, and Living Building Challenge
      • Current product certifications related to sustainable materials, i.e., Cradle to Cradle, Environmental Product Declarations, Health Product Declarations, Green Label Plus, etc.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Graduate architect, engineer, or related field with ten years design and construction experience.
    • Current LEED AP credential is required.
    • Experience as LEED administrator or a significant contributor to achieving LEED certification, or other third-party sustainability certification systems
    • Skills in CAD/Revit, other graphic programs are beneficial.
