    HGA’s Public | Corporate practice group is seeking a talented, ambitious, licensed Sr. Project Architect with proven design and production background in commercial and government building design.

     

    This position requires someone to work independently as a technical expert on various projects as assigned by a Project Manager or Principal. Will lead selected projects in a manner that is responsive to client's needs and deadlines consistent with HGA architectural procedures, standards and quality expectations. Must have excellent communication, presentation, time management and people skills.

    Responsibilities

    1. Develops a thorough understanding of projects’ design philosophy and provides major input in developing a design and building performance strategy and effectively conveys this to assigned team members when appropriate.
    2. Provides technical design input and support for the development of the entire design concept.
    3. Responsible for a project’s technical design effort, subsequent detailed design development, project coordination and quality control efforts during all phases of project work, in close collaboration with Senior Designer.
    4. Seeks creative and innovative solutions to assigned tasks and develops appropriate research and documents to support these solutions.
    5. Actively collaborates with and coordinates work of consultants and knowledge resources to ensure the project deliverables are coordinated, integrated and support the design concept and performance goals of the project.
    6. Contributes to the preparation of design documents and leads the detailed development of construction documents during all project phases, delivering complete, accurate and coordinated project documentation.
    7. Makes authoritative decisions, negotiates critical issues, with a high degree of judgment in collaboration with Project Manager.
    8. Directs the production of schematic, design development and construction documents.
    9. Maintains awareness of evolving building technology and systems.
    10. Reviews shop drawings, material samples and CD’s for conformance with design.
    11. Performs construction administration duties (e.g. RFI’s, RFP’s, change orders, etc.)
    12. Prepares reports and specifications; reviews completed reports, plans, cost estimates and calculations.
    13. Executes applicable agency review analysis (accessibility, zoning, life-safety, etc.)
    14. Establishes architectural budget, task schedule and other components of the project work plan in collaboration with project manager.
    15. Directs production of construction documents, drawings and specifications in compliance with project scope, schedule, cost and design intent.
    16. Implements meeting objectives, facilitates meetings and provides meeting notes documentation.
    17. Maintains contact with clients, consultants and contractors during all project phases, participating in marketing, client and owner presentations as required.
    18. Sets an example for team effort through the spirit of cooperation while directing, organizing and mentoring junior staff.

    Qualifications

    • Graduate Architect - Bachelors of Architecture or Masters of Architecture required
    • Registration/Licensure required
    • Minimum 15 years required
    • LEED accreditation preferred
    • Software to include proficient use of: AutoCAD, Revit and other graphic programs as well as expertise with project management software
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to communicate clearly with both project team and clients
    • Demonstrated ability to oversee and be responsible for project delivery on a variety of levels
