    HGA is a leading architectural, engineering and planning firm with an excellent opportunity for a talented, ambitious electrical engineer with good people skills to join its Milwaukee office.
     
    In this position, you will perform electrical engineering duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Project Manager maintaining a commitment to design and quality in a manner consistent with project expectations, responsive to the client's needs and deadlines, and consistent with HGA engineering procedures, standards and quality expectations.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    1. Makes calculations, using engineering formulas and skills for electrical designs such as lighting calculations, power distribution calculations, and generator sizing.
    2. Ability to plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate electrical engineering work.
    3. Resolves a variety of complex problems, i.e. conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult condition requirements
    4. Provides drawing for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by drafters or other project resources
    5. Researches design options and document findings for Project Engineer.
    6. Provides information to Project Engineer for incorporation into specifications, reviews shop drawings, research code issues and ask general questions of code officials and organizes and maintain project files. 
    7. Assures that drawings and designs are in accordance with design standards.
    8. Keeps Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project scope or services through ongoing communication to understand any project changes, design issues or time/budget constraints that may impact initial assignment. 
    9. Provides Project Engineer with project management and administration assistance
    10. Visits construction sites or existing buildings for gathering information and observations

    Qualifications

    Qualified candidates will have:

    • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering
    • PE registration or ability to obtain PE registration in the near future
    • 3 to 5 years of experience in an architectural engineering environment
    • Healthcare experience would be a bonus
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit software
    • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Familiarity with electrical analysis software (i.e., ETAP, Easy Power, Dapper/Captor)
    • Knowledge of the current sustainable technologies applicable to the electrical design
    • Experience in fire alarms, lighting control and other low voltage systems
